Boyd Elkins Melton, age 91, of Shelbyville passed this life Wednesday, October 14, 2026. He was born August 19, 1935 in Woodbury, TN to the late William and Alta Melton. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Johnson Melton; son, Steven Jay Melton; and brothers, Bratton Melton and W.J. Melton.
Boyed retired from Pepsi Cola and spent many years as a trainer for Walking Horses. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Boyd loved spending time with his family and friends but most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Before his illness, he also enjoyed attending horse shows.
He is survived by is son Jeffrey Melton; grandchildren, Sydney Melton (Kain White-Conley) and Reed Melton (Julie); and great-grandchildren, Kai White Conley, Kato White-Conley, and Blakly Melton.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 20th at Feldhaus-Gowen-Smith Chapel. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24th at Lebanon Laurel Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, TN with Brother Eric Geren officiating.
