Jean Ellen Roberts was born November 21, 1946 to the parents of Harold and Edna Gritz. Jeannie passed away peacefully May 13, 2026 at her home in Wildersville.
She attended public schools in Enid, Oklahoma and later attended the University of Arkansas. After her education she was employed by the Doctor's Clinic in Little Rock as an obstetric nurse. Later she was a homemaker and caretaker of her beloved horses and dogs. Jeannie's love of Jimmy and her horses brought her to West Tennessee in 1991.
Her patience and compassion led her to show her horses with much expertise and win many accolades and blue ribbons. She was a loving step mom and riding instructor to her step son, Jonathan. Jeannie had several dog companions through the years, but one special dog, Opie. Opie has been by Jeannie side during her illness.
Jeannie was a talented person. She could remodel a kitchen or bathroom with very little help. She turned her backyard into a peaceful oasis of koi fish, blooming plants, and waterfalls.
Her love and kindness was felt by her family, friends, and community. She was the recipient of the Hermitage District Ruritan Member of the Year Award for her volunteer work in the community. She worshipped with the Wildersville church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Roberts of 34 years and a brother, James Richard Gritz, a sister-in-law Gail Walker, two nephews, Wes Walker (Jaivel), Wil Walker (Camber), a great niece, Jessy Walker, a great nephew, Levi Walker, and an extremely close friend, Elaine Berry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Edna Gritz, a brother, Darrell Gritz (Mae), her step son, Jonathan Roberts and a brother-in-law, Robert Walker.
The family would like to thank Arden Hospice, Haley and Courtney, and her daily caregivers, Gail Walker, Karen Conti and Lili Koelsch for the countless hours of their compassion and expertise.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 15 at 2:00 PM at Reed’s Chapel with burial to follow in Jones Cemetery in Wildersville, TN. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM and Friday from 11:00 AM until service.
