Robert Eugene Dabbs, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. Mr. Dabbs was a lifelong resident of Bartow County Georgia and a proud member of the Cartersville High School Class of 1959. He later attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia, returning home to marry his beautiful high school sweetheart, Janice Smith Dabbs, on June 4, 1961. His first job was at Smith Gin Company, and he later became a renowned Real Estate Broker and Developer operating Dabbs Realty and Construction until his retirement in 2009. Mr. Dabbs was also an avid horse lover. He owned and rode many world champions and world grand champions showing both Tennessee Walking Horses and Racking Horses throughout the Southeast. He was inducted into the Racking Horse Breeders Hall of Fame in 2018 and recognized for his many contributions to that breed. He started attending the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in 1970 and did not miss championship night for 52 straight years. Mr. Dabbs loved nothing better than watching a good horse and being in Shelbyville, Tennessee. His love for horses and cars began at an early age and never left him. Mr. Dabbs was always the first to enjoy a good practical joke and thrived on pulling one on friends and family. Mr. Dabbs was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia.
