Representatives of the Waynesville Charity Horse Show presented a $13,500 check to Meals on Wheels of Haywood County during the Haywood County Commissioners meeting on September 21. The donation represented proceeds from the annual horse show held in July.

The 2026 event marked 75 years of the horse show being held in Haywood County, North Carolina, making it one of the longest-running shows on the circuit. Originally known as the Waynesville Lions Club Horse Show, the event was conducted by the Lions Club for 65 years. When longtime club members were no longer able to continue the show, a small group of Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiasts stepped in to carry on the tradition as the Waynesville Charity Horse Show.

Over the last five years, the one-day show has raised more than $55,000 for Meals on Wheels of Haywood County and has become the organization’s largest annual fundraiser.

The show’s continued success is made possible through tremendous support from local community members, small businesses throughout Haywood County and owners and training facilities within the Tennessee Walking Horse industry.

Through the efforts of David Finger, Eddie Bryant, Kathy Palmer, Vicki Reece and show manager Cindy Bryant, the Waynesville Charity Horse Show continues its longstanding tradition while making a positive impact on the lives of those throughout Haywood County.

Show organizers extend their appreciation to everyone who attended, supported or participated in this year’s event.

The Waynesville Charity Horse Show will return July 17, 2027.
