WHITE PINE, Tenn. - The 19th annual Spring Walking and Racking Show was held on April 12, 2008, at the Great Smoky Mountain Expo Center in White Pine, Tenn., and was sponsored by the Tennessee Racking Horse Association. The proceeds from the show will support the ministries of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In an open letter to the association membership, Show Chairman Dewey Foust said, “In the last 10 years, the TRHA, along with the proceeds from the High Oaks Coon Hunters Club’s annual hunt for Saint Jude, has amounted to a whopping $326,000 going directly to St. Jude.”

Eddie Ray Davis of Nicholasville, Ky., took on the duties of evaluating the contenders and marking the cards for the event.

While shaping up to be another tremendous success, just before show time, the USDA VMOs arrived after visiting the South Carolina Ladies Auxiliary Show in Clemson, S.C., the previous evening. As a result, lots of entries were scratched and the show was left to a bare minimum.
However, as a last ditch effort to raise some extra money for St. Jude, a couple of the cakes from the silent auction were offered as “cake walk” prizes and each cake raised approximately $350.
