The weather was beautiful and cooperative for BWHA Youth Day, held at Skeeter Hollow Farms, on April 19, 2014, as part of Country Ridge Stables 2014 Winter Show series. These shows, held in New Philadelphia, Ohio, are designed to introduce youth to the gentle nature and smooth gait of the Tennessee Walking horse.  Rich Burnett, his daughter Gail Perry, and granddaughter Harlee did the presentations with the help of Alyssa Zehner.  The kind and very capable assistance of Rich’s clients as well, made the day a true success. Rich's wife, Jean Burnett, provided delicious food and refreshments.

There were various demonstrations with the horses showcasing the different show divisions. The presentations also included preparation of a horse for the show ring as well as a driving demonstration and, of course, a Stick Horse Class. A Model class demonstrated conformation and techniques for Showmanship. Julia Ault took one lucky youth on a demonstration ride during the Lite-Shod class. Alyssa Zehner and Pampered Princess showed the fine points of exhibiting a lite-shod horse.

T-shirts with ‘BWHA Youth Day’ were given to all the youth participants. Rides were given to a many youth and adults who participated as well. Judging from the smiles on the faces of the 35 youth participants and at least that many adult participants, the BWHA Youth Day was a huge success!
