Celebration Judging By The Numbers

The 77th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration concluded on September 5, 2015 with the crowning of I Am Jose at the World Grand Champion for the third consecutive year. It was also the third consecutive year that I Am Jose was the unanimous choice of the judging panel.
This year's judging panel of Jennifer Bingham, Derek Bonner, David Landrum, David Sisk and Sam Sorrell have a combined 17 years of Celebration judging experience. Bingham, Landrum and Sisk were back in center ring for the second consecutive year.
At this year's event the panel tied the winner unanimously 91 times in the 196 class schedule, 46% of the time. In addition the panel tied the class unanimously on both first and second place horses 31 times and tied the class unanimously 1-2-3 nine times. In 2014 the winner was tied unanimously 83 times and in 2013 there were 63 unanimous ties.
Landrum tied first the eventual winner of the class 170 times while Bingham and Bonner tied the winner 162 times. Sisk tied first the eventual winner 155 times and Sorrell did so 133 times.

The TWHBEA International Board of Directors has elected the Executive Committee members who will serve the association in the coming year. All were elected to two-year terms except Amanda Wright and David Williams, who each have one year left in their Board terms and are ineligible to run again due to term limits.

The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association has announced its holiday schedule. TWHBEA will be closed from December 24 through January 1 and will reopen on January 2. Members are encouraged to plan ahead for any year-end paperwork or registry needs.
