Celina Had Heat and Horses

by Linda Fox

CELINA, Tenn. - The heat index hovered around 108 degrees at the Clay County Recreational Park on Saturday night, June 20, 2009, where the 46th annual Celina Lions Club Horse Show was held. Despite the unforgiving weather, more than 100 horses were entered in 22 classes for Ronnie Spears to evaluate. John Hood of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was master of ceremonies, Wayne Nabors was the organist and Harold Watson served as ringmaster.

Trainer Scott Beaty and Radar’s Motown, just off their Pikeville Spring win, were named the Walking Stake winners for owners Teddy and Bernice Turner of Livingston, Tenn. Reserve honors went to Brent Coburn and Elmer’s Pzazz, riding for Henry Young of Walland, Tenn.
