(Copyright 2001)Editor's Note: The following statement was issued by trainer Chad Way

I would like to apologize to the many people who I offended with my statements in the Nashville Tennessean on Monday, August 27. I was frustrated and upset over having my horse turned down on Saturday evening in what I thought was not the proper decision.

While I disagree with the disqualification of Jose Jose by the National Horse Show Commission and the United States Department of Agriculture on Saturday night, I support their efforts to enforce the Horse Protection Act. I do not believe that any improper influences played a part in their decision and I regret having made such statements.

I would especially like to apologize to the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, the NHSC, the USDA, my fellow trainers and owners and all people who support this breed.
