Cliff Gillespie's voice was familiar to all of us who take part in the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration each year. As the event's announcer, he was a consummate professional who had a wonderful rapport with his audience. He knew how to make us laugh, while always maintaining the grandeur of the occasion.
Cliff's professionalism was also apparent in his dedication to Middle Tennessee State University, where he worked for 31 years. As MTSU's associate vice president for enrollment management, he was an examplary leader who was known throughout middle Tennessee for his commitment to students. His distinguished career earned him the honor of serving on the NCAA rules panel, as a trustee of the national ACT board, and as president of the Tennessee Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
As you know, Cliff passed away a little over a year ago. He is deeply missed. To honor Cliff, who dedicated his life to students, his family has established the Dr. Cliff Gillespie Scholarship Fund through the MTSU Foundation. By helping students achieve the dream of a college education, the scholarship will carry forward Cliff Gillespie's legacy in perpetuity.
