Dean Forman - Obituary

Dean Forman, father of Allen Forman, passed away December 3, 2014. He was a lifelong dairyman, but also Dean had a deep love for Tennessee Walking Horses. He witnessed the rising careers of several of the industry’s great trainers through Claude Brown Stables in Morehead, Ky., and Kibler Farms in Mt. Orab, Ohio.
Dean, as well as Allen’s grandfather Art Foster, watched their friend, Marvin Wilson, win the Celebration in the storm of 1969. Dean was always happy to watch a good horse show and see people enjoying their horses. Dean was always proud of his Tennessee Walking Horse trainer son, Allen Forman, and especially enjoyed watching Allen and Reserve World Champion Seve from the beginning of Seve’s career.
Additional survivors include two daughters, four sons and eight grandchildren as well as his beloved brother, Mike Forman, and many extended family members and friends. Dean was preceded in death by one son and his wife, Toby. Dean will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The United States Department of Agriculture proposed a rule on August 20, 2023 that would have devastating impacts to the Tennessee Walking Horse, Racking Horse and Spotted Saddle Horse. The rule would prohibit pads, action devices and bands while also eliminating all industry Horse Industry Organizations (HIO) and turning all enforcement over to the USDA.

The North Carolina Championship is scheduled for October 5-7, at the Western North Carolina Ag Center in Fletcher, North Carolina. Brent Grider, Newton Parks and Amy Trimble were the original slate of judges. Due to recently being diagnosed with covid, Newton Parks is no longer able to judge the show and Johnny Puckett will now take Parks’ place on the panel.

A fighter until the end, he was determined to beat his cancer and gave the dreaded disease a battle like it had never seen.
