Shades Gambling Man "Gambler" was laid to rest on April 2, 2009 at the age of 29 years. Gambler was started in Alabama by Cecil Jordan and was High Point Horse in Alabama for several years before being brought to Georgia by Ronny and Elaine Smith as a juvenile mount for their daughter Ashley. Ashley and Gambler were Reserve World Champions at the 1986 Celebration in the 11 & under division. After several years of retirement and at the age of 18 Gambler once again entered the show ring and taught Janet Herringdine, a novice rider, how to ride a show horse. He always took good care of his riders and was the perfect gentlemen. He retired again at the age of 22 and lived the remainder of his life on the Herringdine's farm in Roopville, GA.

What a tremendous example of this breed he was, in the show ring and winning ribbons until the age of 22. Gambler was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed every day.
