POMONA, Calif. – A heat wave hit Southern California with temperatures that exceeded 103 degrees which made showing horses almost unbearable. The California Pro-Am Horse show was held on May 17-18, 2008, at the LA County Fairgrounds.
Russ Thompson Stables and Golden West Farms were neck and neck in the blue ribbon count. RTS went home with 24 blues and GWF took home 23.
Russ Thompson jumped in the irons to show It’s Billy The Kid to his second Stake victory of the year. Greg Bryant claimed the Stake victory at the Desert Classic Horse Show in late March.
Seven of the 23 blues won by GWF were owned by Sandpoint, Idaho’s Phyllis Langley. Also winning multiple blues were Joyce Hofstee with three, Paul and Donna Hughes owned horses with three and McKenzie Wicketts also with three.
