Tennessee Republican Senator Lamar Alexander reintroduced legislation in favor of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry on April 30th. The legislation mirrors the legislation introduced by Senator Alexander last year and relies on objective, science-based inspections, independent oversight and expert veterinarian input to produce a predictable pre-show inspection. The bill number is S. 1161.

According to sources, Senators Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell are original co-sponsors on the legislation just as they were last year. Senator McConnell is Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate and Senator Paul has already declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President in 2016.
