Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) filed bill S. 1121 in the 114th Congress on April 28th.  The bill title reads, "A bill to amend the Horse Protection Act to designate additional unlawful acts under the Act, strengthen penalties for violations of the Act, improve Department of Agriculture enforcement of the Act, and for other purposes."

Sen. Ayotte was the original sponsor of the PAST Act in the Senate in the 113th Congress along with Senator Mark Warner (D-VA).  The text of S. 1121 is not yet available but sources have indicated it will be the same bill as the PAST Act.  S. 1121 was referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.  The chairman of the committee is John Thune (R-SD) and the ranking member is Bill Nelson (D-FL).  For the full list of members of the committee visit the committee web page click here.
