Fun in the Sun at the Florida State Championships
Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Fall weather in Florida could not have been better for the FWRHA 2012 Florida State Championship Benefit Show held on October 20, 2012, at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa. The morning classes began at 9:00 a.m. in the Charlie Lykes Arena, with the evening classes starting at 6:00 p.m., all judged by Lonnie Messick of Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The two-night Bahamas cruise raffle was won by eight-year- old Canin MacDonald of Tampa. Earlier in the day, he shared his chips with a starving Burl Dale, who in turn bought one raffle ticket and wrote in Canin’s name. Judge Messick drew the winning ticket and the rest, they say, is history. Later in the evening, after Mr. Dale won his championship class, he presented the ribbon, trophy and back number to young Canin, who was absolutely speechless. To top it all off, Canin was given a ride on the winning horse, Another Miss Scored, back to the barn area.

Entries for this year’s show totaled 150. This was a notable increase in overall participation and class size. The Florida Walking and Racking Horse Association sincerely appreciate the many sponsors. We also acknowledge and thank the numerous FWRHA members, event participants, and volunteers who have supported the ongoing activities of this organization throughout the year.
