Marguerite Gandy, 90, of Meridian, Texas passed away January 5, 2008.  She was married to Alton Gandy who began showing walking horses in Texas in the 1940s.

Alton trained his own horses and competed against trainers such as Vic Thompson, Steve Hill, Toby Green and Sam Paschal when they would venture to the old Southwest Circuit.

Her son, Jimmy Gandy, later owned such notable showring greats as The Shocking Blue, Delights Constructor and Bum's Creation.
Her Granddaughter, Celie Gandy, showed successfully out of Wink Groover's, Charlie Green's and Alan Callaway's barn with Flashy Solidarity and A Secret Agent. Marguerite was always the family's best cheerleader and her voice could be heard above all others when one of her family was in the showring.
