Walking Horse Trainer Winky Groover suffered a heart attack Sunday, Jan. 2 and was operated on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.  Groover was admitted to the Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville, Tenn. on Sunday and life-flighted to Vanderbilt that evening.

Groover had a stint placed in his heart during surgery and is recovering well.  He returned home on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 and will be out of work for several days during his recovery.  Groover had 99% blockage in the artery requiring the stint.

"I very much appreciate all the thoughts and prayers we received during this and want to thank all the people that reached out," said Groover.  Groover was the President of the Walking Horse Trainers' Association in 2010.
