BUFFALO, Mo. - The 62nd annual Buffalo Saddle Club Horse Show was held on July 11, 2009, in Buffalo, Mo., on grounds once known as the “Buffalo Prairie”. Mike Anasis made the trip from Shelbyville, Ky., to judge the walking horses. The show consisted of classes for Tennessee Walking Horses and Missouri Fox Trotters. Entries were down nearly 20 percent from last year’s show with only 75 walking horses and fox trotters being shown.
Brad Huffman and PJ’s Pusher claimed their second win of the season for owner Dean Scott in the Open Walking Canter class. Tim Plafcan and Jose Jose Ultra Action received the reserve tie in the class for Tim Plafcan.
Don Bills Stables took home a total of eight blue ribbons and led the blue ribbon tally for the show. 4-J Land and Cattle Company returned to Waynesville with a duo of blues. Brad Huffman Stables took home a pair of blues to Billings. Jim Huffman Stables received two blues as well.
This show is historically well known for its quality entries and hopefully the numbers will improve for next year’s show. Saddle Club President Bob Howerton and wife Mildred dedicate many hours to making this show a success year after year.
