Industry Mourns A Jazz Man

A Jazz Man, sire of current World Grand Champion Master of Jazz, passed away February 5, 2008. The official cause of death was colic.  A Jazz Man was operated on by Dr. Jim Baum and made it through surgery yesterday morning.  However with such a severe case of colic Baum knew A Jazz Man's chances of survival were not good.  He passed away at approximately 8:00PM CST.

Owned by Joe and Cena Martin and Gus King the seventeen year-old breeding stallion stood at Martin Stables in Shelbyville, Tenn., and produced many world champions and world grand champions.

A Jazz Man has been a top breeding stallion for many years. In addition to Master of Jazz, he also sired the 15.2 & Under World Grand Champion Dragonfly and Owner/Amateur Novice World Grand Champion, Jazz's Master at the 2007 Celebration.

In Walking Horse Report's Stallion Report he was the fourth best overall producing stud in 2007 (based on overall points of his get in 2007). Click here to view A Jazz Man's Stallion Report
