SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. – The seventh annual Breeders’ Classic sale was held at Sand Creek Farms on March 7, 2009. The day before the sale, on Friday from 3–6 p.m., Sand Creek Sales presented a sneak preview of the colts that were going through the sale on Saturday. People lined up the gravel road outside and watched the colts perform. This was a great idea as the buyers could get a look at the colts they wanted to buy the day before. Sand Creek also donated a free luncheon on Friday at the Café at the Creek.

On Saturday, the sale started at 10 a.m. with sellers and buyers from all over the country. It was a big crowd with many prospective buyers. Jose’s Pretty Pusher topped the sale at $42,000. She is by José José and out of Pusher’s Perfect Lady. Richard Greer was the seller and Mike and Dee Dee Sale and Beth Thomas were the buyers. She was presented by Joe Fleming Stables. Jose’s Knight was the number two horse. He was sold and presented by Justin Jenné and bought by Richard Greer for $23,000. Faming Red sold for $5,700 and was in the number three slot. He was sold by David Kelley and bought by Larry Cruse.

The sale ran smoothly as always and was over by mid-afternoon. Sand Creek has postponed its Trainers’ Show Select Broodmare Sale because of the Trainers’ Show being delayed and the restructuring of the industry. Visit www.walkinghorsereport.com for more details.
