Mississippi Racking and Walking Horse Championship of the Breed

BOONEVILLE, Miss. - The 36th annual Mississippi State Racking and Walking Horse Championship Of The Breed was held in the Prentiss County Agri Center on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Charlene Cox took on the duties of judging the walking horse classes for the evening.

The show featured 17 classes devoted to walking horses on top of the 19 dedicated to racking horses. Chris Zahnd of Swingin’ Gate Stables, John Fikes, Latham Stables and Casey Wrights dominated the majority of the classes, putting them on top of the blue ribbon tally board.

Larry Latham and Impressive Motion took home the floral horseshoe in the Walking Stake for owners Joe and Scott Cooper of Good Water, Ala. Bradley Parker and Kodachrome’s Choice Cut were reserve for Stephanie Elliott. Rounding out the top three was the team of Firey Encore and Casey Wright for proud owners Ed and Shannon Cotter.
