Managers of facilities hosting all types of horse shows from throughout the country will meet for a symposium, January 14 to 16, 2002, in Tunica, Miss. This will mark the fifth annual meeting, which began as an informal gathering to discuss common interests for improving management procedures.

The meeting program will feature a roster of prominent equine professionals, including Alan Balch, President of Equestrian USA; John Royer, head of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network; and Bryan Dygart, a facility manager producing profitable non-affiliated horse shows. Other topics will address intergovernmental relations, the economic impact of horse shows, waste composting, concessions and food service plus open round table discussions.

Fitzgerald’s Casino and Hotel will serve as a host hotel and meeting site, with additional meetings scheduled for the recently completed Tunica Arena and Expo Center.

The symposium is open to any manager of an equine facility hosting multiple day events with a minimum of 50 permanent stalls. The Center for Equine Management at the University of Louisville is coordinating the meeting and interested persons are urged to contact Dick Morgan at 502-852-4861.
