Joel Roper “Huck” Moss, Jr., husband of Peggy Ann Moss for 56 years, died November 17, 2021, after an extended illness. Mr. Moss was born on April 8, 1942, to the late Joel Roper “Bubba” Moss, Sr., and Margaret Gardner Moss. 

He was a lifelong resident of Trenton. He was a retired Tennessee Walking Horse trainer, poultry farmer and owner of Huck Moss Stables. He was a member of the S.C. Walking Horse Association (SCWHA), where he was honored as the trainer of the year. He was inducted into the SCWHA Hall of Fame in 2010. He also served as a licensed judge for Tennessee Walking Horse shows, having judged the Walking Horse National Celebration five times. He was a longtime member of the Ridge Fishing Club in Trenton. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, and caring for the land. 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons Stephens Roper and Joel Vann and wife, Carrie; daughter Anna Moss and husband, Jim McNinch; and two grandchildren Emily Ann and Carter Vann Moss. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Moss Summer. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour Episcopal Church in Trenton, S.C. The family will receive friends at the church parish hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Saviour Building Fund, Post Office Box 206, Trenton, S.C., 29847.
