Archie L. Brooks, age 80, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2021, in the comfortable surroundings of his home in Erin, Tennessee, just as he would have chosen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Patsy W. Brooks, and his parents, John M. Brooks and Pearlene Brooks.

Born and raised in Erin, Archie spent his entire life contributing to the civic and economic advancement of his dearly loved hometown. Together, Archie and his late wife founded and operated numerous businesses in Erin, including an A&W Restaurant from 1970-1976; West End Kwik Stop from 1976-2006; and Archie’s TV & Appliances from 1978 until the present.

Well known throughout the Erin community for his engaging personality and playful spirit, Archie was a loyal and instant friend to many. He was always ready to lend a hand with his generous sense of giving or share a laugh with his dry, contagious sense of humor.

Among his many passions, Archie was an avid horseman, breeding and showing Tennessee Walking Horses for over thirty years. One of his favorite activities was entering the Big Oval at The Celebration and letting his horse “Walk-On”. In addition to horses, he shared with his daughter a steadfast love for Tennessee Volunteers football and the importance of maintaining strong ties with family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Tamera Brooks; siblings Orene Breeden, Shirley Patterson, Sara Owens and Robert Brooks; many nieces and nephews; twenty horses; and Bingo, the world’s smartest dog according to Archie.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in Archie’s name to Bethesda Mission in Erin. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 17 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Nave Funeral Home in Erin, 4639 W. Main St., followed by a 1 pm service and interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that all attendees are vaccinated and wear a mask.

Arrangements are in the care of Nave Funeral Home.
