Mrs. Betty Sue Kell Upton age 80 of Shelbyville, TN, (Formerly of McMinnville, TN), died Monday, October 19, 2009, at Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville, TN. She was born on May 02, 1929, in Van Buren County, TN, was a retired employee of Formfit Rogers and a member of Fairlane Church of Christ. Mrs. Upton was the mother of, Ernest Lee Upton, a trainer at Joe Martin Stables.
Mrs. Upton was preceded in death by her parents Asa Ernest and Liddie Hillis Kell, husband Carson Walker Upton, son Ronald Carson Upton, sisters Cleo Bouldin, Pauline Whitlock, Mary Julian, Martha Balkin, and Hattie Higginbotham, and brothers Tom, John, Ernest, and Leroy Kell.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Ernest Lee and Brenda Upton of Shelbyville, TN, grandchildren Ronald Brent Upton of Atlanta, GA, Beth and Clint Joyner of Valdosta, GA, Mystie Upton of Jefferson, GA, and Ernest Lee and Rebecca Upton, Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN, great-grandchildren Shelby Nichole Joyner and Eli Clint Joyner, step-grandsons Cliff Carlock and Brad Kirby both of Shelbyville, TN, step great-grandsons Josh and Kirby Carlock, sister Lucille Grissom of Rock Island, TN, brother and sister-in-law Asa and Sarah Kell of McMinnville, TN, and sister-in-law Clata Kell of McMinnville, TN.
Funeral service is 1 P.M. Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jeoff Giesemann and Bro. Tony Lawrence will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery on Hwy. 30. The Upton Family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again on Wednesday from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
