Obituary - Cheryl Ann Posenke-Emerson

Cheryl Ann Posenke-Emerson, daughter of long-time trainer Floyd Posenke passed away on September 6, 2009 in Springfield Missouri following a battle with cancer at the age of 46. Cheryl spent most of her life in the Springfield area and became a third-generation horse trainer. Cheryl began riding and showing at young age, first with Hackney ponies then the Walking horses her father would train but it was soon evident that Cheryl’s passion was with the American Saddlebred. Cheryl became a successful trainer in the Saddlebred arena as well her work with Morgans and Arabians.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Trevor Emerson of the home, son Lt. Gary Pratt of Norfolk VA, father Floyd Posenke and his wife Lynn of Springfield, mother Effalea Bridges of Springfield, one brother Ned and niece Hailey, also of Springfield.
Memorial service was held on September 8, 2009 at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield MO.
Cheryl's beautiful spirit will be missed by her family and many friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Cheryl’s memory.
