James O. “Jim” Puckett, age 64, of Murfreesboro died Friday, June 06, 2008. He was a life long resident of Rutherford County. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Steve Lykins, Tim Mitchell, and Bud Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Joy Piety Puckett, daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Andy Mitchell of Murfreesboro, sons and daughters-in-law: John D. and Holly Puckett of Wartrace, William B. and Kim Puckett of Florence, SC, mother and stepfather: Virgie and Ed Leonard of Murfreesboro, brother and sister-in-law: David and Zana Puckett of Murfreesboro, mother-in-law: Rose Gibbs, grandchildren: Drew and Clay Mitchell, Amber, Abigail, Hailey, Ally, and Dalton Puckett. He was preceded in death by his father John D. Puckett.
Mr. Puckett was a member of the Science Hill Church of Christ. He was a 1961 graduate of Central High School. He was a Dairy Farmer and Tennessee Walking Horse Farrier until his retirement. He was a member of the Kittrell Fire Dept Board and the Rutherford County Co-op Board.
Mr. Puckett was the father of walking horse trainer Johnny Puckett.
