Obituary - Katherine Davis Moss Payne

Katherine Davis Moss Payne, age 94, of Gallatin, was born March 6, 1914, and passed away Jan. 18, 2009.
She grew up in Cages Bend and was the second oldest of five children. She loved to tell stories about growing up in Cages Bend. She married Haynie on Nov. 23, 1938. Shortly after they were married they moved to Gallatin. They had two sons, P.H. “Buddy” Payne Jr. and James Luther “Jimmy” Payne. After living in Gallatin, they established Payne Estes. In 1956, she started Katherine’s Dress Shop, which was a fixture in Gallatin until her retirement at the age of 84 in 1999.
She was preceded in death by husband, P.H. Payne; brother, L.T. Moss; sister, Rena Moss Chandler; and great-grandson, Michael Tuck.
She is survived by sons, Buddy Payne of Franklin and Jimmy (Brenda) Payne of Gallatin; sisters, Agnes Moss Dyer of Memphis and Nokes Moss Bone of Gallatin; grandchildren, Shannon (Shannon) House of Hendersonville, Terri (Jerry) Ladd of Gallatin, Kim (Todd) Childress of Orlando, Fla., Jim (Jennifer) Payne of Marietta, Ga., Haynes Payne of Florence, S.C., and Robert (Sarah) Payne of Gallatin; and great-grandchildren; Garrett (Gavin) House of Hendersonville, Laura Tuck, Barron (Mary Allison) Ladd of Gallatin, Luke (Katherine) Payne of Marietta, Ga., and Duncan (Riley) Payne of Gallatin.
