Lelah Ruth Bennett, age 91 passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018.  Born April  29, 1927 In Hartford, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Fielder and Gola York. She was a member of the Centertown Baptist Church and actively involved in community activities.  

She served as Horse Show Secretary for the Centertown Horse Show for more than 50 years. She was heavily involved and  supportive  with the Tennessee Walking Horses in that her husband, both children, and  all grandchildren  actively showed Walking Horses successfully  throughout Kentucky and Tennessee.

A former county court clerk, she also retired from Fort Hartford Stone Company and the Hartford Bank and Trust Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Eugene Lee Bennett. She is survived by one son Kim Bennett of Franklin, KY, one daughter Jeannie Maddox and husband  Barney of Centertown Kentucky, one grandson Ricky Bennett, three granddaughters Paige Bennett, Ashley Pogue and husband Jeremy, Jenny Combs and husband Chris, great-grandsons Foster Jackson, Silas Jackson, Merrick Doan, Trevor Doan.

Visitation was held on Thursday Sept. 6, 2018 from 5-8 at the Bevel Brothers Funeral Home in Beaver Dam Kentucky.  Funeral services will be on  Friday September 7, 2018  in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow  in the Bell family Cemetery, Matanzas, KY.
