Obituary – Raymond Miller

Raymond C. Miller, DVM age 79 of Hartsville, TN passed away Sunday afternoon, October 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
He was born again spiritually at age 37 and was a member of Beleiver’s Chapel in Murfreesboro, TN and attended First Baptist Church of Carthage, TN.
Ray was preceded in death by his Parents, M. Cecil and Vivian Plumlee Miller of Etowah, TN. Survived by his Wife of 53 years, Brenda Howell Miller; Children, Matthew (Becky) Miller-Shelbyville, TN, Sandra (Brad Cook) Miller-Lebanon, TN, David (Kristina Vetetoe) Miller-Hartsville, TN, Donna Miller-Murfreesboro, TN & Denise (Jason) Helson-Pleasant View, TN; Dearest Friend, Valentin Romero; 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great Granddaughter; Brothers, Alan (Toodie) Miller & Jere (Linda) Miller; Brother-in-Law, Jerry (Peggy) Howell and Several Nieces and Nephews.
After completing the Pre Vet program at the University of TN, he received his B.S. degree and his Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine from Auburn University. Ray practiced Veterinarian Medicine for 30 years. He enjoyed music, Tennessee Walking Horses, football and was an Eagle Scout.
After retiring to Hartsville, TN Ray was the founder of the Downtown Hartsville Revitalization Commission in which he and Brenda hosted the annual Goose Gala Fundraiser for over ten years and he served as President of The Hartsville/Trousdale Chamber of Commerce.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Anthony Funeral Home at 11 AM Thursday, October 21, 2021 conducted by Bro. Tim Frank. Honorary pallbearers: Tommy Thompson, Eddie Taylor, Jim Haynes, David Mason, Bill Badger, Woody Badger and John Hehn. Active pallbearers: Tommy Foster, Brad Cook, Mitchell & Jacob Miller, Zachary Neblett, Tom Broyles, George McDonald and Danny Joe Gregory. Interment will be in the Hartsville Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday and 10 AM until service time Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Carthage, TN at 409 Main Street North, Carthage, TN 37030.

Prayers for Cari Burks, wife of Danny Burks and mother of Tanner and Hayden Burks. She is in Vanderbilt Hospital with serious burns, but not life threatening, from their barn fire. There were no horses in the barn. She will be there for several days with burns on her back and feet. We are hoping for a speedy recovery.
