Virginia Gladys Counts, daughter of the late Henry R. Hatcher and Opal Gladys (Godden) Hatcher, was born in Logan, Iowa, on June 22, 1942. She departed this life at her residence in Republic, Missouri, on September 12, 2021, at the age of 79.

On February 1, 1960, in Salem Missouri, Virginia was united in marriage to Carroll Counts and to this union three children were born. Virginia previously attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Republic, Missouri. She was a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association. Virginia enjoyed riding horses and raising registered Persian cats.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Opal Hatcher.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Carroll Counts of Republic, Missouri, two sons, Carol "Kevin" Counts of Republic Missouri, and Brian Keith Counts of Evansville, Indiana, one daughter, Audrey Ann Armstrong and husband DJ of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, three brothers Richard Hatcher and wife Ilene of St. Louis, Missouri, Steven Hatcher of St. James, Missouri, and Michael Hatcher and wife Sheila of Bunker, Missouri, one sister, Sheryl Wisdom and husband Samuel of Bunker Missouri, three grandchildren, Jacob, Justin and Darby Armstrong all of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and two great-grandchildren, Brenden and Ashlyn Armstrong. Virginia will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends.

A visitation was held Wednesday, September 15 at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington, Missouri. A funeral will be held Thursday, September 16, at 11:00 am at McSpadden Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Sharpe officiating. The burial will be held at RLDS Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association.
