Owner and Exhibitor: Lauren Williams

Lauren Williams – Farmington, Missouri

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN THE TENNESSEE WALKING HORSE INDUSTRY?
We’ve had show horses with the Scrivner’s since 1986. I was two-years-old when my mom started showing and we’ve been doing it ever since!

WHAT HORSES DO YOU CURRENTLY OWN AND WHO ARE THEY IN TRAINING WITH?
I have two colts in training at Scrivner Stables; one by Black Gin and one by El Zorro's Star. My mom, Pam, has Defending The Title and Roy G. Biv LHF, whom I love as my own.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE PAST WORLD GRAND CHAMPION AND WHY?
He’s Puttin' On The Ritz. I was 12 when he won and I had never seen a horse that exciting before.

IF THERE WAS ONE AREA OF THE INDUSTRY YOU COULD CHANGE OR RAMP UP, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
The showing of walking horses is such a fun family activity.... I just wish it was more affordable for people to get started. The market for affordable yet competitive horses is too small.

IF YOU WERE NOT AT THE BARN OR A HORSE SHOW, WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING IN YOUR FREE TIME?
Playing at our family farm with my husband Matt.... fishing, riding ATV’s etc.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE TV SHOWS, MOVIES OR NETFLIX FEATURES HAVE YOU BEEN BINGE WATCHING DURING THE PANDEMIC?
Ozark, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Billions..... I haven’t started Yellowstone yet. And yes, I watched Tiger King. lol

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR SHOW CAREER THUS FAR?
Winning an owner-amateur world championship in 2010.

WHAT WORDS OF WISDOM CAN YOU GIVE TO THE HORSE INDUSTRY ON THE PANDEMIC?
As a pharmacist I’ve seen the pandemic up close. It’s going to take time and we will get through this because that’s the only option there is. Just adapt and keep on truckin!
