by Lauren Abernathy-Hawks

VERONA, Miss. - The 13th annual Gum Tree Classic, held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, kicked off with Edgar Abernathy and Dollars And Dreams carrying the flag for the Grant Lindaman family. Newton Parks took on the duty of judging the 33-class event. Trainers from Middle Tennessee and Mississippi came to compete in this year’s event.

Six entries answered the gate call for the final class of the evening, the Walking Stake Championship. Buck Williams and A Formula One were the team that received the judge’s nod and the honor of carrying out the floral horseshoe for Scott and Kim Leonard. Second place honors were awarded to Brock Tillman and Armed And Dangerous Premier.
