MONROE, N.C. - The North Carolina Walking Horse Association’s annual Sneak Preview was held at Baucom Stables in Monroe, N.C., on Saturday, March 15. Heavy rains and even tornado warnings were projected for the day but luckily it did not start raining until after the event had ended.
There were not as many attendees this year due to the postponement from the week before and the fact there was a show being held in South Carolina. However, there were 15 quality colts and fillies shown with Mike McBrayer handling the announcing duties. McBrayer also served as the auctioneer for donated items that included a variety of things from a set of The Year in Walking Horses to a promise of Barbara Brumbaugh’s famous coconut cake. David Fingers was the winner of the cake that is to be delivered later. Joe Manis sold tickets for a 50-50 draw.
The North Carolina Walking Horse Ladies Auxiliary had their annual bake sale. They also had a meeting to plan for their show which will be held on May 17 in Dallas, N.C. The NCWHA Board of Directors also met to finalize plans for their spring show which will be held April 5 in Dallas, N.C.
The Baucom Stables were thanked for their hospitality as the Sneak Preview always gets everyone excited about the upcoming show season.
