The SHOW HIO held a Designated Qualified Person (DQP) refresher course on Saturday January 5, 2013 in Shelbyville, Tenn.  The refresher course was conducted by Dr. Bart Southerland from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Dr. Stephen L. Mullins, former President of SHOW HIO and Mike Inman, Chief Executive Officer of The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration (TWHNC) coordinated the course.

“The Celebration has participated in the efforts to consolidate the HIOs and industry groups and stands in support of the concept, however with no action toward that goal taking place we must move forward with SHOW and its inspection program to ensure our show managers compliance with the HPA at their horse shows,” said Inman.  “If the industry is able to consolidate under a unified inspection process the Celebration will do whatever it can to support and help with that entity,” continued Inman.

There were 14 SHOW DQPs that attended the refresher course.  All fees for affiliation and inspection will remain the same in 2013.
