Investigators from four counties have been looking for the participants in a horse theft ring that may involve theft of horses over the last two years. Yesterday, well-known Tennessee Walking Horse breeder Steve Beech, Tammy Burris of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Danny Reed of Manchester, Tenn., were indicted in Putnam County related to the theft of horses in that county.

The charges stem from the theft and sale of two registered Tennessee Walking Horse broodmares belonging to Joe Weaver of Shelbyville, Tenn. Burris and Reed were also indicted for theft of a mare and colt from Alicia Crane of Belfast, Tenn.

According to Donald Pierce, Investigator in Putnam County, further charges may be issued in Marshall and Overton counties, and possibly even extend outside the state of Tennessee.
