Tri-State Honors Their High Point Champions

The Tri-State Walking Horse Association (TSWHA) honored its 2019 Ride For The Roses, High Point Champions on November 3rd at the Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. A delicious buffet including broiled haddock, chicken picatta, stuffed top round of roast, eggs benedict, salad, various types of dessert and cash bar set the luncheon in motion.

With the hustle and bustle of show season over, tack cleaned and put away, we looked forward to the opportunity to visit with fellow exhibitors outside the ring; a wonderful way to bring the 2019 Show Season to a close.  Beautiful silver plates, ribbons and trophies were awarded to the High Point Champions and all youth present were honored and given an embroidered 2019 Ride For The Roses High Point Champion, padded bridle/halter bag.  TSWHA is dedicated to supporting the Youth of our industry and this year we celebrate our 2019 Youth Overall High Point recipient, Dakota N. Hodgson.

Dakota "Koty" Hodgson is a Sophomore at Liberty High School in Bealeton, VA.  An honors student, Officer in the JROTC program including Commander for the Armed Exhibition (rifle) Team, Koty is also an avid Basketball Player (High School JV Team, multiple AAU/Travel Teams, volunteer Assistant Coach/Trainer for the local Special Olympics Basketball program and the local Recreational Basketball League).  Koty currently has 2 Tennessee Walking Horses of his own, Taylored by Allen and Nine Yards Above & Beyond; if you don't see Koty in the ring, he's on the basketball court somewhere.  Congratulations Koty on a phenomenal 2019 show season.

The TSWHA hosted two shows during the 2019 season, June 8th and September 28th at the Diamond 7 Ranch in Dillsburg, PA.  The June 8th show was a memorial for Lifetime Member, Gladys Willey who passed away on April 14, 2019; the June show will continue as an annual event in her honor.   TSWHA hopes to see all our current exhibitors and welcomes all newcomers in 2020. The Ride For The Roses show dates are scheduled for 13 June 2020 and 3 October 2020, at the Diamond 7 Ranch.  The single day shows provide a multitude of qualifying and championship TWH, RCK, RMH and SSH classes; Open, Amateur, AOT and Youth. Wishing all a wonderful start to the 2020 Show Season.  - TSWHA (Author)
