President-Elect Donald Trump has picked former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to lead the Department of Agriculture.  The news was reported by Politico.  Perdue served as Governor of Georgia from 2003 - 2011 and emerged as one of the leading candidates to replace former Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack very early in the transition but the announcement comes much later than most thought originally.

Perdue is very well thought of in the agriculture community.  He grew up on a farm in Central Georgia and has owned several agriculture related businesses.  Click here to read the Politico story.
