The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) takes pride in developing activities and programs to meet the needs of our young members. The Youth Medallion Class was introduced in 2001 to encourage young riders to learn and become proficient at the canter.

Erica Hartlein was announced as the 2003 Medallion Class High Point Winner at the Annual TWHBEA Awards Dinner on Thursday, December 5th. Erica received a $1,000 scholarship from TWHBEA and her name will be placed on a permanent plaque to be displayed at TWHBEA Headquarters in Lewisburg, Tennessee. In addition Erica received a 5-year subscription to Walking Horse Chat, an advertising banner or one year, and a personal web page designed by Grand Champion Grafix.

Erica also won the Youth Medallion Championship held annually at the National Futurity. All of Erica’s points were earned with her 17-year-old classic horse, The finishing Touch. This is quite a testament to both horse and rider!
