World Grand Champion Cavender photo presentation

The official portrait of 2024 World Grand Champion Cavender was recently presented to the Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Charlie Hatcher.
The official World Grand Champion portrait, by photographer Shane Shiflet, commemorates Cavender's first World Grand Championship win. It was unveiled in December at the TWHBEA Awards Banquet and is displayed at Ellington Center, home of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. On hand for the presentation of the portrait were (pictured from left to right) Warren Wells, TWHNC CEO, Amanda Wright, TWHBEA Executive Committee President, Commissioner Hatcher, Andy Holt, Deputy Commissioner, Mark Farrar, TWHBEA CEO, Tim Smith, trainer and rider of the champion, Knox Blackburn, owner of EquiKnox Farm, Bruce MacDonald, owner of Cavender with wife, Robin (not pictured), and Jeffrey Howard, Chairman of the TWHNC Board.

The SHOW HIO held its annual training and testing on Saturday February 15, 2024 at the Embassy Suites in conjunction with the Walking Horse Trainers’ Association’s annual meetings and banquet. Elaine Marie Gilmore, age 64 of Petersburg, TN died on Friday, February 7th, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Elaine went home to be with the Lord. She was born in Paterson, NJ, and was raised in Brick, NJ where she lived before moving to Petersburg, TN several years ago.
