The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has posted their fiscal year 2020 enforcement activity summary. Under the Horse Protection Act, APHIS obtained decisions and orders in 11 proceedings. APHIS assessed $11,800 in civil penalties and disqualified 10 individuals from participating in activities regulated under the HPA.

APHIS’ report they pointed out a consent decision for entering a horse to show that was deemed noncompliant that accepted a $1,100 civil penalty and an 8-month disqualification. In another, the individual consented to a 15-month disqualification and a $2,500 civil penalty. The enforcement summary data is available here.
