In a communication to Horse Industry Organizations, USDA-APHIS Assistant Director Dr. Aaron Rhyner announced the hiring of Dr. Autumn Unck to be the newly formed Horse Protection Supervisor.

“The Horse Protection program is excited to announce the selection of Dr. Autumn Unck as the new Horse Protection Supervisor. Autumn joined Animal Care in 2016 as a Veterinary Medical Officer in Nebraska conducting Animal Welfare Act inspections and joined the Horse Protection Team shortly after. Dr. Unck will assist me with oversight of HPA field operations, feel free to connect with her on any questions, issues or concerns regarding inspection/field related activities. Melissa Radel will continue to be your main point of contact for HIO records and reporting,” said Rhyner.
