LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. - The rain and storms could not stop the horses and riders from competing in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., at the 26th annual Crossroads of Dixie Walking Horse Show. It was held at the Rotary Park on Friday, June 12, 2009, at 7 p.m. Mike Hilley of Shelbyville, Tenn., marked the cards for the 30 classes. The show was sponsored by the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club.
Jim and Judy Leek had a great show with two firsts and three seconds. Judy Leek placed first in the Amateur Specialty class aboard Goodbye Joe. This was her first blue of the season. Power Force and Leek were reserve in the Amateur Novice Specialty, and Bubba’s Sip Of Gin was reserve in the Trail Pleasure class. John Allan Callaway picked up the reserve in the Open Show Pleasure Specialty with Absolutely Flawless. Last but not least, they owned the Stake Champion, More Of The Major. He was ridden by John Allan Callaway and trained under the Callaway banner.
Emily Zahnd came from Trinity, Ala., to make dual blue ribbon rides and sweep the youth divisions. She won the Youth 12-17 Specialty with She Stings Like A Bee and the Youth Pony with Caesar Ritz.
Barbara Kenehan also had multiple wins. Legend Of JFK and Kenehan were called to the winner’s circle in the Open Show Pleasure, and Sheza Hottie and Kenehan dominated the competition in the Novice Amateur Specialty and came out with the blue.
