Charles Raymond Baldwin, 83, a resident of Slocomb, Alabama passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at his home.

Charles, an Air Force veteran, was born on February 6, 1939 in Spencer, Tennessee. Charles grew up in McMinnville, Tennessee where he developed his love and knowledge of Walking Horses and later became a professional Tennessee Walking Horse Trainer. Charles trained, showed, bred, and raised Walking Horses for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of The Walking Horse Trainers' Association.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Baldwin and Catherine Dillon Baldwin; his paternal grandparents, John Thomas Baldwin and Bessie Bell Martin; his maternal grandparents, John Claude Dillion and Lula Esta Johnson; sister, Charlotte Cantrell;  brother, Glenn Baldwin and son, Ray Baldwin.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Wright Baldwin; daughters, Donna Dean (Todd) of Bella Vista, AR, Elizabeth Camp (Joel) of Webster, FL; grandchildren, Ashley Sewell of Bella Vista, AR, Clay Dean (Madison) of Bella Vista, AR, Sidney Helms of Bushnell, FL, Brent Helms of Westminster, CO, Lindsey Morgan (Andrew) of Headland, AL, RaeLeigh Baldwin of Headland, AL; great-granddaughter, Nora Claire Dean of Bella Vista, AR; sister, Claudette Hillis, Hillsboro, TN; and brother, Joel Baldwin (Georgia) of Manchester, TN.

Serving as pallbearers: Todd Dean, Clay Dean, Joel Camp, Brent Helms, Glenn (Buddy) Baldwin, and Jeff Baldwin.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Reverend Kyle Gatlin officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
