Obituary – Diana Cruse

Diana Starr Cruse age 55, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022.
Funeral services will be at 5pm Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend B.K. Miller will officiate.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born November 21, 1966, in Gary, Indiana, to the late James Marshall and Mary Alice Watson Patterson. She was a trainer of Tennessee Walking Horses and American Saddlebred Horses. She was well known in the show ring, and won many World Championships. She was a Christian and a woman of great faith.
Survivors include three sons, Marshall Colton Atherton, Zachary Todd Atherton, and Lawrence Joseph Atherton; a brother, Lawrence Dean Patterson; grandchild, Ali Ann Atherton.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

During the 2025 SHOW Judges’ a discussion was had regarding if owners could show horses in front of a judge that they had horses in training with. Under the 2024 rules, an owner could show a horse that they owned in front of a judge that was also a professional trainer that the same owner also had horses in training.

The United States Department of Agriculture postponed the effective date of the Horse Protection Rule until February 1, 2026. This postponement means that the Horse Industry Organizations will remain in effect for at least the 2025 show season.
