Eric Carl Lackey, 66, a resident of High Point, NC, passed on to be with the Lord on November 22, 2022 while at the home he shared with his wife, Diane DuBois Lackey. Funeral services will take place Tuesday November 29th, 2022 with a visitation from 12:00 until 1:30 pm in the Christian Enrichment Center at Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville. The service will begin at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary.

Eric was born September 14th, 1956 in High Point to parents (deceased) Carl Wilson Lackey, and “Nona” Gilberte Lackey. Eric was a graduate of East Davidson High School as well as UNC Chapel Hill. The Decorator’s Edge was begun about the same time he met and married Diane DuBois Lackey in 1978.
Along with his wife, Eric owned and operated The Decorator’s Edge for over 40 years. An interior design firm and showroom, clients from near and far would enjoy watching them work their “magic” on their homes and businesses.

In 2020, The Decorator’s Edge was chosen the award-winning design firm by “Houzz”, chosen by millions of homeowners that comprise the “Houzz” community. Eric worked passionately on his work, which took him to many cities as well as countries i.e. London, Costa Rica, Italy…. too many to name.

His other passion was just as strong, his love for his Tennessee Walking Horses. Handed down by his father, Eric was a very accomplished equestrian having shown since he was 8 years old.

Eric and his various horses have several World Championship titles under his belt. With a horse show home in Shelbyville, TN, you would find him and Diane at as many shows he could work in to his schedule throughout the season. His love for animals continued with the dogs he loved over the years, especially “Miss Blue” who remains in the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 2 sisters, Denise Sharon Lackey of High Point, and Josiane Lackey Laumann of Thomasville. One niece, Taylor Laumann Conner (Rick) of Harrisburg, and their children Callen and Kendall.

Eric was a wonderful human being who loved very deeply, especially his wife Diane and his family. He chose December 13th as their wedding date because his parents were married on that date.

Also still on this earth are several close friends who have become family…they know who they are. We are forever grateful for your love.
