Judge Jack Hestle, 66, Clarksville, died Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Nashville. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Freeman, Rev. Steve Murphee and Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the church.
He was born December 5, 1942 in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his father, John Jackson Hestle Sr, mother, Martha Elizabeth Smith Hestle Best and step-father, Morris Best. Judge Hestle was a member of First Baptist Church where he had taught Special Needs Sunday School Class, Montgomery County Bar Association, Montgomery County Conservation Club, and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Humane Society. He became licensed to practice law in 1968, served as the District Attorney General from 1974 to 1982 and was presently serving as General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge for Montgomery County Division One. He is survived by the mother of his daughter, Nancy Pennington Hestle, Clarksville; daughter, Elizabeth Hestle-Gassaway, Shelbyville, TN; sister, Elizabeth Boone Hestle, Great Valley, NY. Pallbearers will be Wade Bobo, Charles Johnson, Jerry Rose, John Rasori, Clev Turner, Mickey Sanders, Dennis Sanders and Davis McCutchen. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
