Obituary – Ralph E. Chaffin

Ralph Chaffin was born October 30, 1947, in Detroit, MI, and he passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his residence in Cookeville, TN, at the age of 75.
He was the son of the late Ben Robert Chaffin and Willene Swift Chaffin. On July 11, 1971, he was married to Margaret Kinnaird Chaffin, who survives. He was a horse trainer, and a member of the McCoinsville Church of Christ. Mr. Chaffin loved and trained Walking Horses for over 60 years, resulting in many world championships. He also loved to raise and train Black Mountain Cur dogs, which also resulted in world champions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Brother: Dewayne Chaffin.
Survivors include his Wife: Margaret Kinnaird Chaffin of Cookeville, TN; Son: Glen Howard of Smyrna, TN; Daughters: Jennifer Nelson and Paula Hayes, both of Cookeville, TN; Grandchildren: Jaycie Carter, Chase Carter, Bryant Hayes, Caleb Nelson, Bethany Howard, and Dezrick Howard; Great Grandchild: Leah Fox; Niece: Joanna Williams; and Nephew: Luke Chaffin.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 11 A.M. at the McCoinsville Church of Christ in Jackson County, TN, with Bro. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, December 31, 2022, from 9 A.M. until time of services. The family has chosen cremation.
Memorial donations may be made to the India Mission Work by contacting the funeral home.
