CLEMSON, S.C. - The South Carolina Walking Horse Association’s Ladies Auxiliary Horse Show was held for the 19th time on April 10-11, 2009, at the T. Ed Garrison Arena at Clemson University. The show benefited the American Cancer Society. On Saturday night, Debbie Smith of the American Cancer Society came to the show and the auxiliary members and Auxiliary President Ann Efird presented her a check for $5,500 from the 2008 show. The proceeds from this year’s show will also go to them.
During the two-day event, 285 entries showed in the 62 classes. Mike Carter, David Finger and Judy Martin were the judges. Bad storms hit on Friday night and caused a longer break than usual during the show, but by Saturday the weather was nice and sunny. Trainers came from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee to showcase their champions.
